Overview
Ensure that our private and public buildings, highways, dams, bridges, and sewer/water systems are built, repaired, or changed in compliance with all safety codes, zoning regulations and quality expectations. Ensures contractor compliance with applicable standards, codes, project design, and specifications.
Essential Functions
- Observing and inspecting the Contractor’s daily work
- Keeping a daily record of instructions and directions to Contractor regarding plan and specification interpretation and any required change orders
- Keeping daily record of communications with Engineer, Owner, and members of the public
- Coordinating with independent testing labs for any materials testing required by project specifications
- Verifying quantities for payment on Contractor’s monthly pay request
- Coordinating construction activities/schedules with residents, utility companies, and other agencies
- Inspects materials before installation
- Observes installation methods for equipment and materials
- Answers technical questions and provides information to Client or Engineer
- Participates in final inspections and acceptance of work
- Attends and participates in preconstruction meetings
- Attends and participates in progress meetings
- Ensuring that Contractor is installing proposed improvements per plans and specifications
This is a full-time, year-round position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.
Required Education and Experience
- Construction or Engineering background is ideal
- Prefer two years of experience
- Must possess valid driver’s license
