As a part of the design-build team selected by the Potawatomi Zoo to overhaul their existing entrance, JPR led site design efforts for the team. One major challenge was to overcome a significant grade change that existed between the zoo entrance and the pathway leading to the exhibits. Through detailed grading and design, JPR was able to provide a considerably improved accessible pathway.
Improvements to the zoo’s entrance included a new plaza, entrance building with gift shop, a new restroom facility with family restrooms, new sub-surface stormwater runoff storage area, new lighting, and improved landscape features around the entry.
