In 2011, JPR was charged with renovating the interior and exterior of an existing 17-year-old restaurant. The interior dining experience, for example, was to be enhanced by removing the kitchen from the diners’ view and upgrading the interior spaces and finishes. However, the project eventually led to a complete gutting of the interior.
The kitchen and bar areas were relocated, and several private group dining options were incorporated into the final design. Additions on three sides of the facility helped achieve the Tuscan atmosphere that was requested, and the seating capacity was expanded to approximately 300-diners. A café-like setting was incorporated adjacent to the to-go area, and a three-season patio and dining porch was positioned directly off the bar.
The design team was able to take the project from schematic design all the way through complete out-for-bid construction documents in five months.
