The Ottawa Baseball Stadium was once home to a Double-A Minor League Baseball team. However, due to a decrease in fan attendance and a deteriorating stadium, the team moved from Ottawa. After that, the City of Ottawa, along with two private companies, began working together to renovate the stadium with a goal of bringing a Minor League Baseball team back and restoring the valuable community asset. The stakeholders approached JPR, and partner consultant Ewing Cole and Associates, to provide design services.
Working with the City, the design team developed a Master Plan that achieved a diverse and updated stadium experience. The Plan included an evaluation of cost and the feasibility of many design features:
• 360-Degree concourse with brew pub, bar, fun zone, splash pad, playground, and center field entrance
• Terraced group picnic areas
• Outdoor suites with 4Tops tables
• Scoreboard
• Audio/visual package
• Facade improvements with LED fascia board
• Batting cage facility
• Renovated home plate main entrance
• Team office
