The Town of Laketon hired JPR to design a grant-funded wastewater sewer system. With funds remaining after the completion of the sewer system, the Laketon Regional Sewer District (LRSD) utilized the excess funds to design and construct an office and maintenance building.
JPR proposed a cost-effective, post-frame barn style building to take full advantage of the limited funds for the construction of the project. This also allowed them to incorporate a large multi-use community space into the building which is used primarily for LRSD and public town meetings. Offices for the LRSD staff and restroom facilities were also included in the design.
The garage component, mainly used for the maintenance and repair of sewer district equipment, included a crane and test pit that are utilized to test ejector pumps. The space was also designed to allow vehicles to be pulled into the building to load and unload pumps and other equipment. In addition to the maintenance functions of the garage, provisions were also made to include storage.
