In 2021, JPR was engaged by the Porter Township School Corporation (PTSC) to prepare a Preliminary Investigative Report (PIR) of the existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Located on the Boone Grove High School campus, the existing WWTP was constructed in 1992 and 1993 and rehabilitated in 2005.
As identified in the PIR, the need for the wholesale replacement of the existing WWTP was confirmed. This was based partly on the existing facility’s age and physical condition, and partly on the anticipated additional flows that may be generated by future visitors to the school campus. Additional flows are anticipated due to the planned construction of a new competition football field and stadium, as well as from the future population growth projected within the PTSC community.
JPR partnered with additional consultants to design and permit a new WWTP and storage facility using prepackaged plant equipment manufactured by DPI Water Solutions. The packaged plant will be buried in a 6,900 square foot building that will also provide needed storage for the school.
The existing plant will be decommissioned and removed to make room for the new football stadium complex slated for construction in 2023. Construction of the WWTP and storage facility is underway and is expected to be completed in May 2023.
