Due to the addition of Street Department equipment and the need for extra storage space, The Town of Bremen was looking to hire a firm to design a building that would serve them for years to come. They were also looking for a firm that would be able to overcome any challenging obstacles found along the way. Ultimately, JPR was hired to design a new maintenance and storage building for the Town Street Department because of their extensive experience in civil engineering site work and architecture.
JPR proposed a cost-effective, post-frame construction barn that provided a large clear span and tall overhead doors for equipment. The heated building, mainly used for maintenance and equipment repair, was designed for vehicles to be able to pull into the facility and be worked on. Pipe bollards were installed inside the building, giving staff the ability to push against them to help with the installation of snowplow blades onto trucks. In addition to the maintenance functions of the garage area, provisions were also made to utilize additional space for storage needs.
One of the major challenges of the project was the extremely low terrain on the southeast corner of the site. This area had to be built-up to accommodate the planned layout on the tight building site.
